It was standing room only at Lawrence Mayor Martin Oliner’s Central Avenue home on Monday evening when the Chief Rabbi of Israel David Lau visited. More than a 100 Jewish community leaders and guests gathered at the mayor’s house to meet Lau.

The chief rabbi was in the New York area since early last week, making stops in Brooklyn and the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The remainder of his itinerary was not made public.
