Long Beach welcomes annual Jazz Festival

Long Beach Jazz Festival
The City by the Sea is making music all weekend long. An eclectic group of acclaimed musicians will have everyone groovin’ along as the festival celebrates its 13th year of free performances. Special guests included the Frank Vignola Duo, playing Django-esque gypsy swing; Chieli Minucci, with his band Special EFX; local legend Dean Brown; Paul Simon’s bassist Bakithi Kumalo; along with pianist Rachel Z, who returns with Omar Hakim and their great group, The Trio Of OZ, and big band sounds from Uppercut, among others. Festival producer Steve Adelson also performs, with a special Stick-Tet ensemble featuring core members Frank Bellucci, Bryan Carrott and Nydia “Liberty” Mata.

AOH Feis and Festival
The Nassau County Board of the Ancient Order of Hibernians welcomes the fall season with its annual Irish Festival and Feis. Enjoy a day chock full of activities at this most traditional celebration of Irish dance, music, piping, drumming and athletics. The 18th century tradition lives on in Nassau County, where the AOH’s eight strong divisions join to organize competitions of dance and piping and present awards to the best. There are competitions in Irish singing and art as well, games for children, and much more.
