A chance meeting with a past schoolmate led Cedarhurst native Cheryl Rothenberg Chaves to spend nearly a year tracking down members of Lawrence High School’s class of 1965, and then organizing a 50-year reunion.
Close to 170 classmates, along with spouses, attended the event at the Woodmere Club on June 13.
Last year, Chaves, who now lives in Manhattan, bumped into Isabel Price Schorenstein in an Inwood restaurant. That chance meeting prompted Chaves to begin her search for classmates, and putting the reunion together. Coincidentally, her father, the late Edward Rothenberg, organized his Lawrence High class 50-year reunion.
There was a buffet dinner, dancing and live entertainment from the doo-wop group the Persuasions as well as a DJ spinning music from the 1960s.
