Lawrence Staples robbed at gunpoint

Three men, two with handguns, allegedly robbed the Staples at 345 Rockaway Turnpike at the Bar Harbour Mall in Lawrence on Jan. 23 at 6:40 p.m., police said.

The store, which is closed due to Hurricane Sandy-related damage, is being repaired.

A 28-year-old woman went to the front of the store to get supplies, when she saw two men she did not know. One displayed a handgun and ordered her to the back of the store, where a man, 30, was handling payroll, according to police. The other man, also displayed a handgun, and both demanded money. A third man, who is alleged to be part of the robbery, was in the back of the store.

After taking an unspecified amount of money all three men fled on foot and headed east towards Rockaway Turnpike. No injuries were reported.

One man is described as approximately 25, 5-feet-10-inches, 160 pounds and was wearing a gray wool hat, gray sweater and blue jeans. The other man is about 30, 5-feet-9-inches, 180 pounds, dark-skinned, with short braids, beard and was wearing a red jacket and blue jeans.

The two men who displayed handguns are described as black. There is no description of the third man.
