The Woodmere Fire Department opened its doors to the public at 20 Irving Place in Woodmere for four hours on Oct. 9 to residents of all ages to learn what the all-volunteer department does on a daily basis, while educating those in attendance on critical fire prevention tips.

Department firefighters and emergency medical technicians provided individuals a glimpse of how they respond fires and medical calls. Children tried on firefighter and paramedic gear, while learning how to put out a fire with an extinguisher. Residents learned first-hand a myriad of life-saving tips in the event of an emergency.
