Pedestrian seriously hurt along Burnside Avenue

A man, 57, walking south across Burnside Avenue about 100 feet west of Rockaway Turnpike in Lawrence on Friday at 10:20 p.m., was struck by a white-colored vehicle that was headed east, according to police.
The motorist left the scene and was headed south on Rockaway Turnpike, police said. The man was taken to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition.
