SIBSPlace barbecue creates fun times

The Schamroth family hosted the annual SIBSPlace barbecue at their Hewlett Harbor home, where 71 children and 138 people in total ate hamburgers and hot dogs and played on Aug. 10.
There was a 65-foot inflatable maze, field games, a professional drumming circle and a photo booth, along with cotton candy, sno-cones, an ice cream truck, popcorn, cake and other assorted desserts.
Hewlett-based SIBSPlace is a free therapeutic program of South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside. The program serves children ages 5-17 who are living with a sibling with cancer or another devastating illness, or a parent with cancer.
