Longtime Woodmere resident Patricia Wolfson (née Messing) died on Jan. 22 at her Wyckoff Place home. She was 77.

Wolfson grew up on Herrick Drive in Lawrence and moved to Woodmere in 1957. She moved off Long Island and returned to Woodmere in 1970 where she lived until the time of her death.

Upon graduating from Woodmere Academy (now Lawrence Woodmere Academy) in 1953, Wolfson went on to receive her Bachelor of Science from New York University.

“She was an outgoing and fun person,” said Wolfson’s daughter, Andrea. “She was also giving to her friends and family and would go out of her way to help anyone who needed anything.”

Wolfson worked as the director of Alumni Relations at her alma mater, Lawrence Woodmere Academy. “She wanted to be back with people she knew and she loved the academy,” Andrea said.

Services were held on Jan. 25 at Boulevard-Riverside Chapel in Hewlett and Wolfson was interred at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont.

She is survived by her daughters Fran Wolfson and Andrea Wolfson-Stone, son-in-law Scott Stone, granddaughter Amelia, sister Nadia Messing-Nuss, nieces and nephews Bill, Bonnie, Stevi, Woody, Caren, John, Harvey, Elise, Meredith and Ross. Her brother Avrom Messing predeceased her.

Donations in Wolfson's honor can be made to Lawrence Woodmere Academy, 336 Woodmere Blvd., Woodmere, NY 11598.
