Wishing you a happy Howl-O-Ween

The Friends of Valley Stream dog park is prepared to show that Halloween fun isn’t limited to just humans. The annual costume contest for dogs will take place on Oct. 29 at noon.

Children's Halloween parade

The Henry Waldinger Library will ring in Halloween with a special parade on Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. in the children’s room. The event is open to children 4 and up and will include Halloween story time, a costume parade around the library and treats for attendees.

'Hologram for the King'

The Elmont Library will have a showing of “Hologram for the King,” in which Tom Tykwer adapts Dave Eggers’ best-selling novel about a flailing American businessman who travels to Saudi Arabia in a desperate attempt to sell a holographic telecommunications system to the country’s king. The movie, which stars Tom Hanks, is rated R and will be shown on Nov. 1 at 2 p.m.
