Two men injured in Atlantic Beach house fire

The homeowner of an Atlantic Beach house and a Long Beach firefighter suffered minor injuries in a fire at 2115 Atlantic Boulevard on Jan. 24 at 12:30 a.m., officials said.

His 26-year-old son told the homeowner, a 60-year-old man, that the laundry room was on fire, police said. Two women, 55 and 21, were also in the house at the time of the fire that also reached the second floor of the home. All four exited the home. The homeowner had a minor burn to his forehead and was treated at the scene.

Nearly 100 firefighters from the Long Beach, Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Inwood, Point Lookout-Lido, Oceanside and Rockville Centre fire depatments extinguished the blaze. A Long Beach fireman sustained a minor back injury when he fell through the attic. He was treated at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside hospital and released. The Atlantic Beach Rescue Squad also responded.

Officials deemed the fire non suspicious and are continuing to investigate.
