Year in Review, April: Hewlett congregation sold its building
Christine Daly/Herald
Congregation Beth Emeth in Hewlett sold its Franklin Avenue building to a church group and leased spaced in the Central Synagogue in Rockville Centre.

Congregation Beth Emeth in Hewlett, the only Reconstructionist Jewish congregation on Nassau’s South Shore, began the process to sell its 15,400-square-foot building at 36 Franklin Ave. due to declining membership.

The sale gained its legally required recommendation for the State Attorney General and court approval. The building was sold for $2.4 million to Lilies International Christian Outreach, a Queens-based organization. Congregation Beth Emeth leased spaced at Central Synagogue in Rockville Centre.
