Year in Review, February: Hewlett fire displaced 33 residents
On Valentine’ Day, the building at 1435-1441 Broadway in Hewlett was severely damaged after a fire began in one of the upstairs apartments. Thirty-three residents and a few businesses were displaced. Aid came from the Red Cross and Five Towns organizations. By the fall, the building had been renovated.
