Forty bags of trash were collected by 30 volunteers at the Hempstead Lake State Park cleanup.

Lawrence High School students, members of the Town of Hempstead Democratic Club’s environmental caucus and a few others helped to make Hempstead Lake State Park much cleaner as they collected 40 bags of trash for about three hours On April 10.
There were 20 Lawrence High students and 30 people in all. According to Michael Turi, who coordinated the cleanup, the most unique found was a Louisville Slugger baseball bat.
