Community Chest collects turkeys for Thanksgiving

Posted

Community Chest South Shore in partnership with several Five Towns businesses and institutions are mobilizing to offer complete Thanksgiving meals to families to people who are in need as the most American of holidays approaches.

Gourmet Glatt in Cedarhurst and Key Food in North Woodmere are helping to supply the Thanksgiving turkeys and trimmings so that  families can celebrate on Nov. 22.

Community partners are getting the word out. Dime Bank also in Cedarhurst, Sunny Atlantic Beach Club and the Shores Beach Club, both in Atlantic Beach, are but a few assisting in the effort. Flyers and posters are on display at Five Towns Long Island Rail Road stations and advertisements are in the Nassau Herald and The Jewish Star.

Community Chest South Shore is an 86-year-old old charitable organization that offers emergency financial assistance to people in the Five Towns and surrounding communities who suffer extenuating circumstance such as sudden illness or job loss and have trouble meeting life’s basic needs. Community Chest’s strives to transform hardship into hope for neighbors in need.

A donation of $100 will feed a family of four with a complete Thanksgiving dinner.
