On the same day last month, Saturday, Oct. 13, SIBSPlace was the beneficiary of two fundraising events. In the morning there was Cycle for SIBS in Cedar Creek Park in Seaford.

The fall chill and rain didn’t dampen the fun and energy. Sponsored by the teams of Dave Harrison, Star Trak, Syke and WBLI the event was considered a success by SIBSPlace officials.

At night in Woodmere, Lowell Frey and his band, 6 Degrees North, spearheaded the fifth annual Rock for SIBS at the Backstage. SIBSPlace Executive Director Suzanne Kornblatt received a citation from State Assemblywoman Melissa “Missy” Miller.

Hewlett-based SIBSPlace, is a free program of South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside founded by Hewlett Harbor resident Michael Schamroth that offers support for children 5-17 who have a sibling or a parent suffering from cancer or another devastating illness.
