Family and friends gather at the Community Chest fair

The rainy weather didn’t cooperate as much as Sunday got off to a slow start and Community Chest South Shore officials cancelled Monday, but the 33rd annual Community Chest fair at Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park in the village provided fun for many as children rode the rides, kids and adults played games, ate food, including ice cream at the fair, even on Saturday.

Community Chest supports several local organizations and helps people in need through its Neighbors Helping Neighbors program. On Nov. 2 at 6:30 p.m., at the Lawrence Yacht & Country Club, Community Chest will hold its eighth annual Neighbors in Need dinner and will honor the Marion & Aaron Gural JCC’s sustenance center.
