Five Towners on the deans’s list and inducted into Phi Beta Kappa

Emanuel Cohen, a sophomore majoring in music at the University of Rochester, was named to the dean’s list for academic achievement for the spring semester. Cohen, of Lynbrook, graduated from Hewlett High School.

Union College unveiled its dean’s list for the spring semester and it included Samantha Epstein, of Hewlett, a member of the class of 2021, majoring in psychology and gender, sexuality and women’s studies; and Jasmine Nakkab, from Valley Stream, class of 2018, majoring in managerial economics. Students with at least a 3.50 grade-point average for the entire academic year earned this distinction.

Hewlett resident Kristen Decicco, a biology major from Hewlett, was named to the dean’s list at Le Moyne College for the spring semester. To make the list, students must achieve a 3.5 GPA or above.


The Phi Beta Kappa chapter at Hofstra University inducted Jacqueline Pollina, of Hewlett, philosophy major, class of 2019; and Michaela Asch, from Woodmere, who graduated. She majored in the speech-language-hearing sciences.

They were among the 58 students who became members of the oldest nationwide honor society. Membership is considered an emblem of high achievement and strong potential. The society celebrates and advocates excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Its campus chapters invite for induction the most outstanding arts and sciences students at America’s leading colleges and universities.
