Five Towns commissioner election results

Contested races in Inwood and Woodmere

Seven special districts, six for fire and one for water reclamation, held elections for commissioners on Dec. 11. Three races in two of the districts, Inwood and Woodmere, were contested.

Inwood Fire District
Dominic Andreno III defeated opponent Mark Rolon  147-112 to succeed former commissioner George Miller Sr. for a full five-year term.

Vincent Castagna defeated Matthew Rizzo 140-123 to fill the final year of former commissioner Thomas Pandolfo’s unexpired term.

Woodmere Fire District
Incumbent Woodmere Fire District Commissioner David Stern defeated challenger Timothy Pastor 215 to 35. It will be Stern's fourth term.

Atlantic Beach Fire District
Incumbent Commissioner Steve Spelman won his first full five-year term received all 24 votes cast after running unopposed. He first won election two years ago, when he filled in for another commissioner who had to vacate his seat.

Greater Atlantic Beach Water Reclamation District
Running unopposed incumbent Commissioner Scott Mason was re-elected to the three-year. He received all 37 votes cast

Hewlett Bay Fire District
Joseph Whitney ran unopposed to fill the seat that former Commissioner Paul Breslin vacated earlier this year. Whitney, a department member for more than 28 years, won a full five-year term, with 38 votes.

Meadowmere Park Fire District
Meadowmere Civic Association President Ruth Samuelson, won another as commissioner in the Meadowmere Park Fire District after running unopposed. According to Samuelson, she received 32 of 60 votes cast. The remaining votes were for  write-in candiates.

Lawrence North Fire District
The Herald was unable to obtain the results at this time.
