Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library awarded Hour of Code grant

Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library was awarded a $300 2019 Hour of Code grant from the American Library Association and Google for Education. The money was applied to preparing kids with skills for the future during Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 9 to 15) using curricula designed by Google For Education. 

The “Code Your Hero” computer science and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs introduced topics such as parallelism, debugging, control structures, and variables, with an easy to understand approaches for third- to fifth-graders.
