Rachel Schindler, of Woodmere, opened her home and hosted several Israel Defense Forces soldiers last month.
Established in 1948, when the Jewish state of Israel was created, the IDF’s mission is to defend the existence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Jewish state; protect the residents and combat all forms of terrorism. Israel’s military draws upon roughly three million available personnel, nearly 4,000 tanks, about 10,000 armored fighting vehicles, 700 aircraft and more than 100 vessels.
