Lawrence has a happy Homecoming

The class of 1968 was remembered and the football team upped its record to 6-0 for a great ending to Spirit Week and a topper to Lawrence’s Homecoming Weekend. The parade stepped off from Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park and ended at the high school.

Marching band members played, blue and gold flags were waved and the Golden Tornado mascot made sure everyone’s school spirit was not in doubt.

The varsity football team then took the field and behind a pair of two-touchdown performances by Andres Duran and Christian Fredericks, Lawrence defeated Conference III foe Valley Stream North 50-20.

Fredericks rushed for 90 yards on five touches and Duran had 77 yards on eight carries. Jordan Alexander returned a punt for a 50-yard TD and scampered in from 19 yards out for another. Mike Cuestas spearheaded the defense with eight tackles, with two for a loss of yardage. Jeavon Johnson recovered a fumble and made a half dozen stops, including two for a loss.
