Ariel Steinlauf, from Lawrence, was one of the 28 New York Institute of Technology College of Engineering and Computing Sciences students that attended the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Conference in Minneapolis, Oct. 17 to 20, and one of four who garnered a job offer from aerospace company Boeing.

SWE is one of the largest conferences for women engineers but is open to anyone interested in attending. The students went to the event with faculty advisers Associate Professor Dr. Ziqian (Cecilia) Dong and Assistant Professor Dr. Houwei Cao.

They took part in educational sessions and workshops as well as hear from industry leaders. Before leaving for the conference, the students participated in NYIT Career Services’ Career Fair Bootcamp to help prepare them to network with employers as well as perfect their personal elevator pitch and handshake.
