A yet-untitled documentary on Israel’s sixth prime minister, Menachem Begin, will have Lawrence resident Phil Rosen as executive producer, joining former U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman and Rabbi Meir Soloveichik on the project. Rosen, a philanthropist and partner at Manhattan-based Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, will help with raising an additional $600,000 for the film being produced by the Hidden Light Institute.

Filming is under way and the documentary is expected to be released next fall. “My father survived the Holocaust because of a series miracles,” Rosen said in a news release. “One thing he taught his children, is the importance of caring about Jews all over the world, no matter where they are, which embodies the spirit and actions of Menachem Begin.” Rosen is also vice chairman of the Birthright Israel Foundation and Yeshiva College boards, and a board member of Yeshiva University and founding chairman of American Friends of Likud.

Lieberman and his former Chief of Staff Rob Schwartz learned they read “The Prime Ministers” by Yehuda Avner simultaneously and discovered they were both awed by Begin.
