Lawrence High School junior Jacqueline Blyudoy received the prestigious Nassau County District Attorney’s SHIELD award. The SHIELD award is given annually in recognition of students’ service, honesty, integrity, excellence, leadership and duty.

Blyudoy, who was selected by teachers and staff at Lawrence High, showed “outstanding strength of character, commitment to self-growth and the spirit and initiative to bring about positive change in [her] community,” according to Lawrence officials.

Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas, who created the award, presented it to Blyudoy in the Mineola court house at a June 28 ceremony.
