Learning about fire prevention with the Woodmere Fire Department

Posted

From riding on the fire trucks to seeing how a fire is extinguished and putting on firefighter and paramedic gear, Fire Prevention Day at the Woodmere firehouse on Oct. 6 was a fun, learning experience for children and adults.

There was also an interactive smokehouse where kids learned what to do during a fire, prizes and free giveaways.

“The members of the Woodmere Fire Department work day in and day out to ensure the safety of our community and thank the many residents of all ages who joined us to learn about fire safety, while having an enjoyable time,” Chief of Department Adiv Koenig said.

Founded in 1889, the Woodmere Fire Department provides fire, rescue and advanced life support emergency medical care to Cedar Bay Park and Woodmere, and Hewlett Neck and Woodsburgh villages.

The all-volunteer department is always looking for new members. For more information or to reach the department, go to woodmerefd.com, call (516) 821-3606 or email join@woodmerefd.com.
