LIRR to repave Cedarhurst and Lawrence train crossings

More work scheduled for Oct. 17

After completing repair work at the Rockaway Turnpike train crossing in Cedarhurst on Oct. 12, the Long Island Rail Road said that repaving will be done at the Lawrence Avenue train crossing on Oct. 17.

Allow for extra time during the morning commute and drive and walk slowly and carefully around work crews to help ensure everyone’s safety.

On Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., the

Lawrence Avenue train crossing in Lawrence will be closed to road traffic. During those hours vehicles will use Rockaway Turnpike for alternate access.

On Oct. 12, the Rockaway Turnpike train crossing in Cedarhurst was repaved.

While the work is in progress, the LIRR and its contractor will provide the necessary flagmen and crossing protection. MTA Police will also be on hand as well to assist with local traffic control along with the LIRR contractor.
