Nearly 140 members, family and friends took part in tennis doubles tournaments and 9- and 18-hole golf matches, and Scramble games to help raise over $36,000 for the charity PLAY for P.I.N.K. (Prevention, Immediate Diagnosis, New technology, Knowledge) organization to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at the Lawrence Yacht and Country Club in Lawrence on July 5 & 6.

This was the first year at Lawrence that men’s and women’s tennis and men’s golf were part of the fundraising event. Winners of each activity were awarded crystal prizes donated by PLAY for P.I.N.K. Each player received a gift bag, and men’s and women’s tennis entrants received custom T-shirts from Infinity and hats from Ana + Ava.

The event was considered a success and that was due to Chairwoman Jackie Handel and committee chairs: Joan Small, Paris Popack, Gladys Rothstein; and volunteers, Leonore Weidenfeld and Rifky Robinson along with LYCC head golf pro Peter Procops and head tennis pro Chris Morales and their staffs.
