The National Council of Jewish Women-Peninsula Section will present the Hannah G. Solomon Award to Hope Coleman, a longtime Lynbrook and now Baldwin resident, at its Founder’s Day luncheon at the Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor on May 23. Solomon founded the NCJW. The Peninsula Section is based in Lawrence.

Coleman, a NCJW-Peninsula Section vice president, was also named a Woman of Distinction and was recognized by State Sen. Todd Kaminsky (D-Long Beach) in Albany on May 1. She has served as coordinator of the NCJW’s Back 2 School Store since its exception five years ago. This summer’s event will be the sixth to aid children in need with school supplies and assorted clothing such as shoes and jackets.

As vice president of Education and Community Services for NCJW, Coleman has chaired a number of community service projects. Her professional career included being the director of child care center for more than 25 years.
