Peninsula Kiwanis honors volunteer firefighters

Firefighters from the Hewlett, Inwood, Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Meadowmere Park, Oceanside and Woodmere fire departments were recognized for their volunteer service by the Peninsula Kiwanis Club at the organization’s 43rd annual Fireman’s Awards Night at O’Connell Gardens in Oceanside on Oct. 25.

Hewlett firefighter and emergency medical technician Adam Dressler, Inwood Inwood ex-Chief and fire district Commissioner George Miller and Lawrence-Cedarhurst firefighter Zachary Lang were individually honored. Miller for his half century of service.

Department awards were presented to the Meadowmere Park, Oceanside and Woodmere fire departments. East Rockaway and Elmont departments were invited but did not attend because of scheduling conflicts.

A buffet-style dinner was served and the Nassau County Police Department Fife and Drum unit performed.
