Providing the school supplies for success

Posted

More than 100 children, teenagers and adults, volunteers all, filled, sorted and collected at least 900 backpacks filled with school supplies for children in need across Long Island at the UJA-Federation of New York’s ninth annual Supplies for Success at the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway Middle School in the gymnasium on Aug. 16.

The backpacks will be distributed to schools and organizations, including Bais Yakov schools, Yeshiva Darchei Torah in Far Rockaway, HAFTR, the Jewish Community Council of the Rockaway Peninsula and Yeshiva of South Shore in Hewlett. Roughly 15,000 backpacks will be circulated across Long Island and the New York metropolitan through the UJA-Federation’s network of nonprofits, yeshivas and other groups.
