Q: Is it safe for my dog to go swimming?

Posted

A: Yes. Swimming is actually an excellent way of exercising for your pet. The important thing to remember is that after they swim they should be bathed. If they were in the ocean, it will help to wash off sand and debris that could irritate their skin and cause infection. For similar reason, bathing should be done after your dog comes out of the pool. Damp skin allows for infection to start. Damp ears allows for ear infections to develop. So make sure your dog is dried off very well. Perhaps, use a hair dryer to help them get completely dry. Just don’t use too hot of a setting. And also clean their ears with a dog ear cleaner.
