Residents approved the Rockville Centre School District 2018-19 budget on Tuesday, as 1,456, or 73 percent, voted yes and 534 voted no.

The $117.1 million budget, nearly 4 percent larger than the current spending plan, has a tax levy — amount the district will collect from the district’s taxpayers — increase by 2.98 percent, just under the state-mandated cap.

Liz Dion, a nine-year Board of Education member who ran uncontested to retain her seat, along with newcomer Kelly Barry, also unopposed, who will replace 15-year board member Mark Masin, officially won the election.

Dion earned 1,636 votes, while Barry collected 1,703.

The Rockville Centre library budget also passed, as 1,611 voted yes and 370 voted no. Andrea Maher and Eileen Burke Bacaria were elected to the library board, garnering 1,673 and 1,678 votes respectively.
