Begun in 1993 by Co-Directors Peter Sobol and Mike DeRosa to promote what community members call the “hidden jewel” of the Five Towns, the 25th annual Inwood 5K took place on Oct. 13, with 134 participants, including 133 runners. Along with the race, there was a Pumpkin Tot-Trot for children 1- to 6-years old.

The event, now under the direction of Byron Jarrin, had Rockaway Park resident Ronald Joseph finishing first with a time of 16:53.03. Jason Sinert, of Williston Park, placed second in 17:39.40 and Brendan Kaelin, from Merrick, took third in 17:50:40. West Hempstead resident Lyndsey Pere was the first woman to cross the finish line with a time of 21:12.64.

Trophies were presented to overall winners, age division winners and all the participants in the Pumpkin Tot-Trot.
