Nearly 50 Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls senior and juniors were inducted into the Re’ut Chapter of the National Honor Society at a ceremony held in the auditorium of the Hewlett Bay Park school on Nov. 1. Students earned the honor based on their scholarship, leadership abilities, character and service to the school and community.

Head of School Helen Spirn greeted everyone and senior Rachel Ash, president of the Re’ut Chapter, presented a Torah commentary, and Rabbi Dr. Josh Joseph, the senior vice president of Yeshiva University delivered the keynote address.

The event’s theme was Heroes of the Holocaust, which was introduced by Associate Principal Deena Kobre. Seven groups of the chapter’s new members displayed slideshows of their research to the parents, administration and faculty members who attended the Wednesday ceremony.

Students received their certificates of induction from General Studies Principal Bluma Drebin and Re’ut Chapter Vice President Eliana Spiess. School officials extended appreciation to Kobre for guidance of the students through the induction process and SKA Technology Integrator Rivky Watman for all her assistance.
