St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, the only hospital on the Rockaway Peninsula that also provides care to the Five Towns, announced on May 20, that Vice President and Chief Quality Officer Del Joiner received the United Hospital Fund’s Excellence in Health Care Award.

St. John’s has reported seeing a number of improvements in the quality of patient care leading to shortened hospital stays where patients are ready to leave earlier than before, as well as improvement in overall patient satisfaction and more.

“I am pleased that UHF has recognized Mr. Joiner for his contributions to developing, leading and implementing strong customer-focused, organization-wide performance improvements at St. John’s,” St. John’s Chief Executive Officer Gerard Walsh stated in a news release.

In the past, St. John’s has also been acknowledged by the American Heart Association and received the Get With the Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus award for applying the most up-to-date guidelines for treatment to improve patient care and outcomes.
