Students sink hoops for heart health in West Hempstead

Cornwell Avenue Elementary School students in the West Hempstead School District worked on their basketball skills as they participated in the American Heart Association’s Hoops for Heart program to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease.

During their gym classes, students in grades one through five exercised their heart muscles by shooting hoops with classmates and learned about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, all while raising money for the AHA.

The district commended its students for helping the community and raising awareness for an important cause.
