Fourth of July Fun

Old-fashioned Celebration
Step back in time and celebrate a rousing Fourth of July as it would have been commemorated in 1865 at the end of the Civil War. Old Bethpage Village Restoration celebrates the return of Civil War veterans, the preservation of the Union, and the 89th anniversary of the nation’s independence in this commemoration of a bygone era. Activities include traditional fiddle music, military drills, parades, and ceremonies, along with a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Also enjoy a brass band concert and an all-star “base ball” game, with 19th century games for the kids. Visitors are invited to bring their own lunches and enjoy a picnic to the sounds of old-fashioned fiddle music. Friday, July 4, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. $10, $7 children 5-12 and seniors. Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage. (516) 572-8400.
