Old-fashioned Celebration
Step back in time and celebrate a rousing Fourth of July as it would have been commemorated in 1865 at the end of the Civil War. Old Bethpage Village Restoration celebrates the return of Civil War veterans, the preservation of the Union, and the 89th anniversary of the nation’s independence in this commemoration of a bygone era. Activities include traditional fiddle music, military drills, parades, and ceremonies, along with a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Also enjoy a brass band concert and an all-star “base ball” game, with 19th century games for the kids. Visitors are invited to bring their own lunches and enjoy a picnic to the sounds of old-fashioned fiddle music. Friday, July 4, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. $10, $7 children 5-12 and seniors. Best of Broadway
The Great White Way returns to Eisenhower Park in Neil Berg’s “100 Years of Broadway.” The popular nostalgia-filled musical revue, hosted by Neil Berg, on piano, features many of the great Broadway showstoppers performed by a cast of Broadway actors and actresses. These amazing performers light up the stage with songs from the hit shows in which they starred. Berg presents brilliantly revived arrangements of Broadway classics as well as thrilling numbers from Broadway’s newest shows, with commentary and historical tidbits in between songs.
