Attempted burglary in Elmont

Police are investigating an attempted burglary that occurred in Elmont on Monday at 1:28 p.m.

According to detectives, a woman who was working in a home on Keller Avenue in Elmont, heard the doorbell ring but didn’t answer it. A few minutes later she heard a loud bang in the kitchen. When she entered she saw that the rear door had been kicked in and a man was standing in the doorway. The suspect fled on foot southbound on Keller Avenue with no proceeds. There were no injuries reported.

The suspect is described as white, 6 feet tall, dressed in all black. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
