Carey celebrates different cultures

H. Frank Carey High School students enjoyed delicious cuisine and a variety of ethnic music during the school’s annual World Language Cultural Night on March 18.

The event was organized as a culminating activity to Foreign Language Week, where students had an opportunity to listen to traditional music and view foreign films in their foreign language classes.

“This is a great event because the students get together with their friends and experience different foods they wouldn’t necessarily eat at home,” World Languages Chairperson Kathy Greiche said.

Students also created cultural projects based on their own families’ heritage. Members of the Foreign Language Honor Society helped served food at the event, before joining those in attendance on the dance floor, moving their feet to a variety of Spanish, French and Italian tunes.

According to Greiche, funds raised at World Language Cultural Night will be split between the French, Italian and Spanish clubs to offset future activities.
