‘Children of Eden’ at Sewanhaka

Students in Sewanhaka High School and other schools in the Sewanhaka District performed the musical “Children of Eden” on Saturday night, March 21, to an impressed and delighted audience.

Based on the Book of Genesis, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by John Caird, the stage performance was directed by Chakira-Iliana Doherty, who also did the vocal direction. Musical direction was by Christopher Doherty, and choreography was by Amanda Montoni.

The cast included Pablo Giraldo (Father), Louis Santos (Adam/Noah), Mia Kuna (Eve/Mama), Emily Morales (Yonah), Philip Thomas (Cain/Japheth) and Bryce Bazin, who played the young Cain.

Also starring were Derick Polanco (Abel/Ham), Gabriel Gil (young Abel), Edward Guerra (Seth/Shem), Jessica Staiano (Seth’s wife/Aphra), Eden Medina (Aysha), and Lisa Mazzeo, Grace Triquet, Samantha Overton, De’Asia Spence and Bradley Rabinowitz.

Dozens of storytellers also performed.

“As a performer there are always productions that leave an impression on your heart,” Director Chakira-Iliana Doherty said. “Children of Eden has always been one of those shows for me.”
