A student from Franklin Square was found dead in his dorm at the University of Albany on March 27, university officials confirmed.

The death of Robert Annunziata, 20, was announced to the campus in an email from the college’s president, Robert J. Jones. In the email, Jones said that “while Robert’s death was unattended, there is no evidence of foul play.”

“I am deeply saddened to inform you of the tragic loss of a member of our UAlbany family,” Jones wrote. “This is an unfortunate loss, and we offer our deepest condolences to Robert’s family, friends and loved ones.”

Annunziata was found in his room on Alumni Quad, Jones added. Karl Luntta, director of media relations at the university, and a spokeswoman for the campus police told the Herald at press time that there were no further updates, and that the investigation was continuing.

After a March 30 wake, St. Catherine’s of Sienna, in Franklin Square, held a memorial Mass the following day.
