A Valley Stream woman was arrested and charged with doing drugs in her car with her 5-year-old child in the back seat in Franklin Square on Oct. 11 around 7:20 p.m., Nassau County police said.

In her vehicle, police found hypodermic needles and a straw for shooting heroin, a glass pipe filled with crack cocaine and a metal pipe with marijuana.

Heather Dajani, 25, of East Beverly Parkway, was spotted by a passerby who noticed that she was injecting a hypodermic needle into her arm while in her car in the parking lot of Walgreens, at 703 Franklin Ave., according to officers. The witness then called 911.

When 5th Precinct officers responded, they reportedly observed Dajani using the hypodermic needle and arrested her.

The child was released to the custody of her grandmother.

Dajani was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. She was charged with three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic instrument, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful possession of marijuana. She was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Oct. 12.

Her attorney’s information was unavailable at press time.
