Snow causes delay on nearly all LIRR lines

NICE bus system also delayed by winter weather

Winter's latest storm is causing problems for those still traveling, as the falling snow is causing delays on virtually all means of transportation on Long Island.

As of 7 p.m., all trains on the Long Island Rail Road are averaging a 15-minute delay in service. The lone branch to report normal service is the Port Washington Branch. In addition, the cold weather has forced the MTA to suspend electric train service between Hicksville and Huntington due to snow buildup on the third rail. Diesel shuttle train service will shuttle riders between the two affected stations, but riders through the branch will experience delays as a result.

The Nassau Inter County Express bus system is also reporting delays. In addition to an earlier delay to the n25 southbound bus line, buses on the n20, n21 and n23 lines will not make any stops in Roslyn due to treacherous road conditions.

Delays have been reported on highways around the area, and roads throughout Nassau County remain partially covered by snow and ice. Drivers should take caution when on the road.
