A comedic, musical reflection on JFK in Malverne

Posted

Roughly 50 residents and people from surrounding communities attended the Malverne Jewish Center on March 10 for a comical, staged presentation on the history of former President John F. Kennedy, and his alleged affairs. The play, “JFK in Crisis: From the Bedroom to the War Room,” shared the story of Kennedy and his relationship with actress Marilyn Monroe, and White House Intern Mimi Alford.
The staged reading also depicted President Kennedy’s efforts to prevent the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 in the midst of the presidential election. Co-author Philip Becker scripted the original musical comedy, which featured actors from different parts of Long Island. Becker said that he wanted to take a fun, comedic look into the history of President Kennedy while sharing some insight on his years in the White House. The actors, who have usually perform ed independently, look forward to refining this act in future performances.
