Elmont actor wins first award

Elmont-native McGregory Frederique won his first acting award at the 2019 Astoria Film Festival. Frederique played a minor role in the movie “Countervail” last April, which went on to earn the festival’s prestigious grand jury prize.

Frederique, who played for Team America -- a private, independent All-Star team that plays around the world -- found himself acting after a car accident left him too injured to play back in 2017. He’s now performed in about 200 projects and will be starring in the lead role of several films this year, including the comedy “Lil’D,” the court case drama “Stuck on Probation” and the post-apocalyptic thriller “Devastation.”
