Historical Society gets together for tea

The Long Beach Historical Society hosted its annual Tea Party on April 8. This year’s theme was “International Tea.”

Guests were invited to sip tea while listening to a talk given by keynote speaker Barbara Flak, who discussed the history of tea. Some wore clothing native to their heritage and exchanged stories about their family’s country of origin.

Members of the historical society — located at 226 W. Penn St. — and volunteers organized the party, including President Karen Adamo, Vice President Diane Sedat, Co-chair Pat Barron, Co-chair Peggy Cullimore, Marie Polemeni, Maxine Kline and Naomi Feller.

Lynbrook residents Audrey Korn and Marianna Marano attended the event after Marano said she had “such a fabulous time last year.”

Cullimore, who moved to Long Beach 12 years ago, said she joined the historical society to learn more about the city and has “made wonderful friends” through the organization.
