New Eagle Scout gives thanks

To the Editor:

This was not an easy task. I would like to take this opportunity to thank some very special people that contributed to this achievement. My Eagle project was collecting donations for the North Shore Veterans Hospital.

First, thank you to some of the business in Valley Stream, especially the Valley Stream Bike Shop for the generous donation on their first day of business. Thank you to Ancona’s Pizzeria, Cicarelli Tailoring, Sal and Vin’s Barber Shop, Morris Variety Store and Mitchell’s Diner. I would also like to thank the employees of Chase Bank on Rockaway Avenue for their donation.

Second, I would like to thank the community, my neighbors and my fellow parishioners of Holy Name of Mary Church for their generosity. Thank you to my fellow classmates and the staff at Valley Stream South High School and Valley Stream School District 24, the Valley Stream South Parents Club and Alumni Associations and the residents of the Charles Monica senior housing complex.

Also, thanks to my friends and neighbors who helped send out fliers to make this possible. I cannot forget to thank my fellow scouts from Troop 109 who helped with collections, sorting items, packing and the pickup of donations. Thank you to Andrew and the Valley Stream Herald for your support.

Lastly, my success would not have been possible without the continued support of my family, especially my parents, sister and grandmother. Words cannot express how thankful I am to them for always being supportive in all of my endeavors.
