The Long Island Rail Road and its customers may experience minor delays on all branches during tomorrow morning's rush hour and should give themselves extra time getting to the stations.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Nassau County starting tonight at 6 p.m until tomorrow, Feb. 10 at noon. Nassau County could see another 3 inches of snow, while Suffolk County could get close to 5 inches. A coastal flood advisory has also been issued for 8 p.m. tonight. Many towns on the South Shore including Long Beach, Oceanside, and Island Park will be affected.

“It could be more treacherous driving to the station and walking, than the train ride itself,” LIRR spokesman Salvatore Arena said. “Our crews will be out early tomorrow morning clearing the stations and we haven’t had any serious difficulties. We just want to play it safe with speed.” Customers are advised to drive slowly and cautiously.

The MTA is advising customers, if at all possible, to remain home and avoid traveling tonight.
