Charged with attempted murder

A Roosevelt man was arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder in Freeport on Monday, Oct. 31.


According to Nassau County police, at 7:44 p.m., 1st Precinct officers received a “Shot Spotter” call at Jefferson Avenue in Roosevelt. At 7:48 pm, Freeport officers received a call for a man who collapsed on Babylon Turnpike and Woodside Avenue in Freeport. It was then determined that he was a victim of a gunshot wound and was rushed to an area hospital for treatment. He survived his injuries.


An investigation is under way to determine whether the victim was, in fact, shot at the Jefferson Avenue location.


At 11 p.m. Rhyan Greene, of Roosevelt, was arrested in connection with the shooting. He is represented by the Legal Aid Society, which does not comment on cases.
