Arrow Exterminating is one of Long Island’s largest pest control companies. That very fact allows them to usually respond to a call the very same day. Armed with 80 professionally trained service technicians and a fleet of radio-equipped trucks, they have been serving Long Island and New York City’s five boroughs for nearly 70 years.

Irene and Bernard Stegman founded Arrow Exterminating Company in 1947. Their daughters, Debby Tappan and Jackie Grabin, joined the business over 40 years ago. They are pleased to see the next generation coming in, as Jackie’s son, David, has entered the family As a full-service pest control company, Arrow handles carpenter and all other types of ants, termites, roaches, bees, wasps, fleas, tics, moths, grain beetles, silverfish and crickets. They can eliminate pigeons, raccoons, mice, rats, and squirrels, as well as outdoor insects that invade homes, like pill bugs and earwigs. Staff members are taught to eliminate pests in the quickest and least invasive way. The finest products available are the ones they choose, ensuring extra safety for children and pets.

Keeping in synch with the latest methods, Arrow uses more baits and less chemical spraying. The Sentricon Colony Extermination System, which has won the Presidential Green Chemistry Award for termite control, is highly in demand. Sentricon is different from the traditional liquid barrier treatments in that there is no drilling into the foundation or floor. Houses or buildings don’t even need to be entered for the installation, monitoring or baiting. The system has recently been modified, and now uses a material called, “Always Active,” which is installed in all stations at the time the job is started, and only needs to be inspected once a year. Arrow makes a further inspection annually, going inside the house to assess any damage or activity. Future plans for Sentricon will allow remote monitoring of the stations for termite activity, 24 hours a day.
